Ray-Anne Carr

About Me

Short Bio.

Ray-Anne has been a shop assistant, student tutor, technical writer, community pharmacist, university lecturer, volcano walker, and Industrial scientist, before fighting her way out of company team-building sessions, to proudly declare that she is a girly swot and has the letters after her name to prove it.

She likes science. Nice medical science. Good medical science. Biochemistry is her friend.

When not stroking her To-Be-Read pile of pristine new books, she is either cooking, staring at the PC monitor, creating compelling crime fiction, or in her garden pretending not to be distracted by the wildlife.

She loves food and good wine, movies, laughter, hates reality TV and can cook you up a delicious dinner or an article on topics like ‘Outsourcing Strategy risk assessments for Multinational Pharmaceutical companies’, at very short notice if you ask sweetly.

Ray-Anne is currently taking a leave from the Pharmaceutical Industry to focus on writing full time. So far she is about 500,000 words in with still a long way to go.  _____________________________________________________________________Slightly Longer Bio

Ray-Anne has lived most of her life feeding her curiosity and passion for science in general and biochemistry in particular.

After studying for a Batchelor of Science [Hons] in pharmacy, Ray-Anne gained a PhD in Pharmaceutical Formulation specializing in Nanoparticle Technology, before applying the science to the very real world of Pharmaceutical Manufacturing where she led a team developing new products and trouble shooting production lines for medicines destined to be shipped around the world.

Ray-Anne found her real passion through the training and mentoring courses she ran for new graduates to the Pharmaceutical Industry, and for two years switched jobs to become a University Lecturer in the same School of Pharmacy where she had graduated!

A rare opportunity to work as a specialist for a major international Pharmaceutical Company drew Ray-Anne back into the industry, where she rapidly progressed through the technical and management ladder to become a Qualified Person responsible for the Quality Control release of pharmaceutical products onto the Market across Europe.

She has worked in the UK, France and Spain, and enjoyed wonderful holidays in countries such as Greece, Switzerland, Austria, Jamaica, India, Nepal, Mauritius, Reunion and Portugal.

Ray-Anne was born and grew up in rural Northumberland, but has spent most of her life travelling for business, and is now settled in Hampshire, Southern England. She also holds a Batchelor of Arts Degree from the Open University.

Ray-Anne has told stories all of her life, whether to support technical training and lecture series, or to entertain. She is a member of the Romantic Novelists Association [ UK] and Romance Writers of America.
